Steele Building

Steele Building

When Venn Constructions were asked by the University of Qld to repair a severely white ant damaged set of exit doors on the Steel Building, St Lucia Campus we knew from past experience what was involved.

The Steele Building lies within the “Great Court” precinct of the University and as such any works to external of the building would require Heritage Approval through the department of Environment and Science.

With the assistance of an experienced heritage architect we have had extensive dealings with in the past – the application was submitted and approved and the works commenced.

In our fully equipped workshop at Capalaba our qualified joiners were able to reconstruct the entire door frame and doors to the exact detail as the original 1959 construction, at all times abiding by the guidelines of the Heritage Application by ensuring that as much of the original fabric was retained and repaired and any new materials matched the existing.
