In 2018, Venn Constructions were the successful tenderers selected to complete the new rare book display within the Fryer Library at the University of Queensland.
The project included a dedicated section of teaching space which allowed staff to focus on student learning and engagement. Solid timber, custom-made handcrafted joinery made up the majority of the works, giving the space a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The selected species of timber was Queensland Maple, sourced locally from Kirby Timbers on the Sunshine Coast. The plantation timber was originally planted around the late 1930s in the Amamoor District, Queensland, and initially harvested around 2012.
