Project overview
Built with precision and care.
When Venn Constructions were asked by the University of Queensland to repair a severely white-ant-damaged set of exit doors on the Steele Building at St Lucia, we knew from past experience what was involved.
The Steele Building lies within the Great Court precinct and works to the exterior required Heritage Approval through the Department of Environment and Science.
With the assistance of an experienced heritage architect, the application was submitted and approved and the works commenced.
In our fully equipped Capalaba workshop, our qualified joiners reconstructed the entire door frame and doors to the exact detail of the original 1959 construction. The heritage guidelines were followed throughout, retaining and repairing as much original fabric as possible and matching all new materials to the existing building.
